Comparison of the Effects of Open and Closed Endotracheal Suction Systems on Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia and Mortality

چکیده
Aims: Nosocomial pneumonia is a prevalent complication in patients admitted to intensive care units. Endotracheal suction (ES) used clean the airways of secretions under mechanical ventilation (MV). The objective this study was compare effects an open endotracheal system (OESS) versus closed (CESS) on incidence ventilator-associated (VAP).
Study Design: Retrospective examination hospital records.
Place and Duration Study: Reanimation Intensive Care Unit, Van Training Research Hospital, Van, Turkey, between January 2018 December 2019.
Methodology: Age, gender, length stay unit (MV), mortality isolated microorganism status 73 (35.6%) with VAP were analyzed retrospectively. These features compared according ES type applied. Sample: conducted among 205 who connected ventilator for more than 48 h reanimation (RICU) tertiary hospital.
Results: There no difference OESS CESS groups terms rates, RICU, duration MV. significant group (41.8% 29%, respectively; P = .045) Acinetobacter baumanii most frequently both groups.
 Conclusion: treatment associated lower RICU.

Comparison of the Effects of Open and Closed Endotracheal Suction on Cardiovascular and Ventilation Parameters for Patients Undergoing Mechanical Ventilation
Background and Objectives: Suction is a necessary and common method which aids in the release of secretion from the respiratory system for the patients who have undergone mechanical ventilation. One of the most common complications of suction is hypoxemia which causes dysrhythmia and death. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of open and closed-endotracheal suction on cardiov...

BACKGROUND Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), a frequent nosocomial infection in the intensive care, is associated with considerable morbidity. Endotracheal suctioning is routinely performed in mechanically ventilated patients to clear secretions. This study assessed if there were advantages of closed endotracheal suctioning (CES) over open endotracheal suctioning (OES) with respect to clin...
متن کاملClosed tracheal suction systems for prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia.
We have assessed the evidence that closed tracheal suction systems (TSS) prevent ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), using a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). We searched PubMed and Cochrane databases to identify RCTs that compared closed with open TSS for the management of mechanically ventilated (MV) patients. Nine RCTs were included in the meta-analysis. There was no d...
